Schaefer’s Auto Art is a unique roadside attraction in Erie, Pennsylvania, featuring whimsical sculptures made from repurposed car parts and other scrap metal. Created by Richard Schaefer, who developed an interest in auto art in the late 1980s, this unconventional sculpture garden has been charming visitors for over 25 years. Â
As you wander through the display, you’ll encounter larger-than-life creations such as:
A giant spider crafted from a black Volkswagen Beetle.
A two-headed dinosaur made from rusted metal.
A bright yellow helicopter constructed from industrial parts.
A massive bumblebee with a car grill face.
A 40-foot-tall rocket. Â
An “Automan” figure.
Visitors are welcome to stop and explore the art, which is located in front of the owner’s property. There is a small pull-off area for parking along Hershey Road. It’s a fun and quirky spot to stretch your legs and take some unique photos! Â
