Emesine Cave Lava Tube

The trail to the cave is off of Saddle Rd. at GPS Cord. 19.67221 -155.37327. or you can take Pu’u O’o Trail just down the road some more.

Drive up this trail until you see a gate then hike about 4.5 miles to the cave on the West side of the trail hard to see just a hole off in the distance a bit but walk towards it and go down either way.

Rough on the feet rock because of the volcanic rock but not much elevation gain.

The entrance on the east side provides easy access. The first bit is a must, amazing features more abundant farther on, before arriving at a vegetated skylight about five to 10 minutes in. The tube winds downhill in a gently snaking tube that’s filled with exceptional formations. The end is about an hour when it is impassable.
